Information About Cleaning and Killing Mold Spores:

Joe,

   Hearing a lot of people around town and on the radio that are having 
recurring mold problems.  Their problem is that they are using bleach.  Bleach 
does not kill mold spores.  Would be good info to get out about this 
misconception.  Below are two websites that can help explain.  Folks are wasting 
their time and money using bleach, as well as putting their lungs in harms way.  
They should be using a peroxide product.  The one that I know that would be most 
effective is Oxi-Clean - which is nothing more than powdered peroxide.  I used 
to work with mushrooms in Kennett Square area, so I know quite a bit about 
killing and growing molds.

The bleach doesn't penetrate the wood (porous surfaces) and bleach won't kill 
the mold spores left behind.  So once the chlorine evaporates, the mold spores 
will start to grow again.  Peroxide kills the mold AND the spores and will 
penetrate the wood to some extent.    If you have any questions, please feel
